To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.

Anatole France

Sometimes Setting a Smaller Goal Results in Greater Success

Look back to one year ago.

What stage were you at in your business? Did you experience some truly joyful and meaningful marketing successes in 2005?

When you look back, don’t think, woulda, coulda, shoulda. Think about the things you did do, the struggles you overcame, and the marketing successes you had.

I would love to hear your marketing success story and would appreciate you sharing it. E-mail me.

If, like most of us, you have trouble setting realistic achievable goals. If you have trouble staying focused on what you need to do to achieve them or you are overwhelmed by the enormity of the big picture, change the process; it’s easier than trying to change yourself. Rather than writing down the end goal… detail a number of activities that you know will help you achieve what you want and just do them one at a time. The benefits are multiple; you will have something off your plate every time you complete a task; you will feel more confident, energized and able to take on any challenges that come your way in 2006.

Whether it’s Internet marketing success, network marketing success or marketing success in your bricks and mortar operation as Einstein said, “Nothing happens until something moves”.

Tips to Marketing Success

  • Talking to the right people is more effective than sending paper. Press kits and letters don’t make deals, people do.

  • In your time starved world, before you agree to meet with someone, think about the purpose. If there isn’t a clear future and point to the meeting, politely decline.

  • You can only charge, “what the market will bear”. – What does that mean? If you identify the target market, use the right words when you speak to them and you are selling something they want – it doesn’t mean anything. It’s an excuse used to justify doing what you have always done. And settling for the same results; dealing with frustrations you always have and complaining about it.

  • You can only do so much yourself. Gather a group of your peers that you respect and meet monthly on the phone or in person to discuss issues and get feedback. They will also form the core that will drive your word of mouth marketing.

  • Hire an effective coach to support you. The most successful business people I know have a coach, either someone they hired or a personal friend who has the ability to put themselves outside the friendship when giving advice. Hiring a business coach was one of the best decisions I made.

The right small action sets in motion unstoppable forces that cause an enormous reaction. Why not set this unstoppable force in motion for yourself this year?
