Search Engine Optimization

Once your website is live, you start to realize there is so much more to getting business on the web than merely putting up a website.

At that point you start to think of either:

  • A. Paid advertising or
  • B. Free traffic

Our perspective is that its always best to use of a combination of methods; the first being to do at least basic search engine optimization of your website. Once your site has been optimized for key phrases, targeted shoppers (not just random visitors) are more likely to find your website.

Here are a few tips on how to start optimizing your website:

Headings

Make sure your website is designed with Headings H1, H2, H3 …headings make it easier for readers to scan your website. They also provide a hierarchy and organize the information to make it easier and more convenient for people to find the information or products they seek. And quite frankly, something you already probably know, search engines also like them.

Meta Titles

These keyword phrases are visible in the blue bar at the top of the browser when you are looking at your website. If however you are not seeing these keyword phrases the time has come to get to work and add these unique keyword phrases for each of the main pages of your website.

Meta Descriptions

Each page of your website requires a unique description. Incorporate keyword phrases included on the page you are describing and write in full sentences. This is not just another place to “stuff” keywords. Use the description to entice searchers to visit your page.

Search engine optimization is only one part of the equation that results in a website that delivers customers, sales or at the very least – informed and interested leads.
